Job Description

JOB TITLE:                                   Director of PPS or Anticipated Assistant Superintendent of Pupil Personnel Services

START DATE:                               July 2025

LOCATION:                                  District Wide

BASIS OF EMPLOYMENT:         Full-time, probationary position

RATE OF PAY:                             As per the PAA Collective Bargaining Agreement or

                                                        Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:       

  • Lead and manage the district’s special education programs, ensuring compliance with all federal and state regulations.
  • Supervise and support staff in the areas of special education, school counseling, school social work, and health services.
  • Provide leadership in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 plans.
  • Collaborate with administrators, teachers, and families to identify and address student needs.
  • Monitor student progress and ensure appropriate interventions and services are in place.
  • Coordinate professional development opportunities for PPS staff.
  • Serve as a liaison between the school district, parents, and community organizations.
  • Advocate for students' rights and ensure equitable access to services.
  • Manage the district’s crisis intervention plans and collaborate with local agencies during emergencies.

Job Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:                     NYSED certification in Administration (SDA) or (SDL) is required

                                                        Minimum 5 years of experience in education, with a leadership or administrative role within Pupil Personnel Services

                                                        Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations and best practices

                                                        Proven ability to lead a team, build relationships and collaborate effectively                                 with students, staff and families

                                                        Exceptional organizational, communication and problem-solving skills
